This piece began as something entirely different, but I felt it was a complete failure. Instead of giving up, I started experimenting with shapes and lines, creating without any intention.
I work in a clinic that treats patients struggling with substance use disorder, and one day, a patient asked to see my artwork. When I showed her a photo of this piece, she immediately got goosebumps and exclaimed, "This is Grandpa’s Farm!" She described a drone photo of his farm, and to her, this painting was an uncanny reflection of that image. And so, the piece found its name in the most unexpected and meaningful way.
