Opened By Mercy

Have you ever tried to hide something from God?  Most of us have.  And most of us already know - He sees it anyway!

Healing begins not with answers, but with honesty.  Not with perfection - but just the quiet courage to ask God for help and to let him fully see the places we've spent years trying to hide.

That is the heart behind Opened by Mercy.

I intentionally chose soft warm colors and gentle light because I didn't want this painting to feel like surgery performed by fear.

I wanted it to feel like surgery performed by love.

There are moments in our lives when God gently opens the places we've guarded for years—not to shame us, but to free us.

His mercy doesn't expose us to condemn us.

It exposes us so He can heal us.

As I painted her expression, I kept thinking about how vulnerable it is to trust God with our deepest wounds.

Most of us would rather hide them.

We become experts at appearing strong while quietly carrying burdens that were never ours to bear.

But mercy has a different agenda.

Mercy says,

"You don't have to carry this anymore."

This painting reminds me that healing isn't something we earn.

It is something we receive.

The heart opens because it finally believes it is safe.

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning." — Lamentations 3:22–23
