Learning to Breathe Again

○ Hidden in the Waiting → ○ Opened by Mercy → ◉ Learning to Breathe Again → ○ Unbound

Healing doesn't end when the surgery is over.

In many ways, that's when the real work begins.

After God opens what we've kept closed for so long, we don't just walk away whole.

We learn.

Slowly.

How to trust again. How to hope again. How to breathe again.

That's what this painting is about.

As I worked on Learning to Breathe Again, I layered lace, scripture fragments, and delicate color beneath the oils. Some of it you can see. Some of it is almost hidden.

Much like healing itself.

There are victories nobody else notices.

The first night you actually sleep. The conversation that no longer fills you with dread. The memory that no longer has power over you.

Those moments may seem small. But they are evidence that something is being restored deep within you.

Healing is rarely dramatic.

Most of the time it's quiet. Almost imperceptible.

Like finally taking a deep breath after holding it for far too long.

Every brushstroke reminded me that restoration isn't about becoming someone new. It's about becoming who God created you to be — before fear convinced you otherwise.

"He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted..."

— Isaiah 61:1

Reflection

Where have you noticed God restoring your heart, one small step at a time?

Next week I'll share the story behind *Unbound — the painting that celebrates life after healing.*
